A 400 W computer is turned on 8 hours per day. If electricity costs 10 cents per kwh then the cost to run the computer annually is 116800 dollars.

Energy is dependent on the power consumed for a given period of time.

Given,

Power = 400W

Time = 8 hours/day

Cost of 1KWh = 10cents

We know that,

Energy consumed = Power × time

So,

Energy consumed in one day = Power × time

Energy consumed in one day = 400 × 8h

Energy consumed in one day = 3200KWh

Now,

Energy consumed in 365 day = Energy consumed in one day × 365

Energy consumed in 365 day = 3200 × 365

Energy consumed in 365 day = 11,68,000 KWh

Also,

Cost of 1 KWh = 10 cents

Cost of 11,68,000 KWh = 11,68,000 ×10

Cost of 11,68,000 KWh = 11680000 cents

Now, 1 Cent = 0.01 dollars

11680000 cents = 116800 dollars

Hence, it will cost 116800 dollars to run the computer 8hours per day anually.

How do solar panels create electricity
xenn [34]

Answer:

They create electricity from the sun's  rays

Explanation:

By the use of "solar cells" or "solar panel", you can trap solar energy in silicon/germanium rods, then you can convert in into electricity too. Solar powered panels convert the sun's rays into electricity by exciting electrons in silicon cells using the photons of light from the sun. This electricity can then be used to supply renewable energy to your home or business.

When you push with a horizontal 15-N force on a book that slides at constant
Marat540 [252]

Answer:

f = 15 N

Explanation:

It is given that, when you push with a horizontal 15-N force on a book that slides at constant  velocity, a frictional force also acts on it. Frictional force is an opposing force. The magnitude of applied force and frictional forces are same. So, the force of friction on the book is equal to 15 N.

mafiozo [28]

Answer:

a) a = 1 [m/s²]

b) a = 0.25 [m/s²]

Explanation:

To solve this problem we must use the following equation of kinematics.

a)

Between 0 and 2 seconds

where:

Vf = final velocity = 2 [m/s]

Vo = initial velocity = 0

a = acceleration [m/s²]

t = time = 2 [s]

Note: the positive sign of acceleration in the previous equation allows us to appreciate that the velocity is increasing

2 = 0 + a*2

a = 2/2

a = 1 [m/s²]

b)

Between 2 and 4 seconds

where:

Vf = final velocity = 2.5 [m/s]

Vo = initial velocity = 2

a = acceleration [m/s²]

t = time = (4 - 2) = 2 [s]

2.5 = 2 + a*2

2.5 - 2 = 2*a

0.5 = 2*a

a = 0.25 [m/s²]
