when the products of a reaction have a lower enthalpy than the reactants, the reaction is endothermic and the change in enthalpy is positive.

In Endothermic Reactions, heat is absorbed from the surroundings. This energy is required for the breakage of bonds so that the reaction can proceed. The overall temperature of the surroundings is decreased.

When heat is absorbed in a system the system has higher enthalpy at the end of the reaction. The change in enthalpy is positive when the reaction is endothermic.

Dissolution of ammonium chloride into water is an example of endothermic reactions.

typical seawarer contains 2.7g of salt (sodium chloride,Nacl)per 100ml (100*10-3L).what is the molarity of Nacl in the ocean?
faust18 [17]

Answer:

Molarity = 0.5 M

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of NaCl = 2.7 g

Volume = 100 mL(100×10⁻³L)

Molarity of solution = ?

Solution:

Formula:

Molarity = number of moles / volume in litter

Number of moles:

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass

Number of moles = 2.7 g/ 58.5 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.05 mol

Molarity = number of moles / volume in litte

Molarity = 0.05 mol / 100×10⁻³L

Molarity = 0.5 M

Anyone know why its important for membranes to be selectivity permeable?
lorasvet [3.4K]
The term, selectively permeable, refers to the fact that the membrane allows some substances or molecules to enter the cells, and others to be prevented from entering. It also allows substances to leave the cell. All of this is dependent on the size of the molecule and the concentrations on either side of the membrane.

Selectively permeable membranes are important in maintaining homeostasis, fluid and electrolyte balance, and cellular health. Cells need to receive glucose and other nutrients in order to carry on normal cellular processes, and eliminate waste products of metabolism to avoid the accumulation of cellular toxins which can disrupt cellular processes and lead to cellular death.
