The value of MF in the line segment is 15 units

How to find mid point ?

The midpoint is the middle point of a line segment.

In other words, the midpoint of a line segment is a point that lies halfway between 2 points.

There M been the mid point lies halfway between the line segment E and F.

Therefore,

EM = EF

hence,

EM = 7x - 6

MF = 5x

Therefore,

7x - 6 = 5x

subtract 5x from both sides

7x - 6 = 5x

7x - 5x - 6 = 5x - 5x

2x - 6 = 0

add 6 to both sides of the equation

2x - 6 = 0

2x - 6 + 6 = 6

2x = 6

divide both sides by 2

2x = 6

2x / 2 = 6 / 2

x = 3

MF = 5x = 5(3) = 15 units

In the graph, the constant of proportionality is 40

Calculating the constant of proportionality

From the question, we are to determine the constant of proportionality

The constant of proportionality = \frac{y}{x}

From the graph, a point on the line is (1, 40)

That is,

When x = 1 and y = 40

Thus,

The constant of proportionality = \frac{40}{1}

Constant of proportionality = 40

Hence, the constant of proportionality is 40
