The balanced equation for the neutralization reaction between H₂SO₄and KOH in aqueous solution is

H₂SO₄(aq) + 2KOH(aq) ⇄ 2H₂O(l) + K₂SO₄(aq).

Following are the results of the sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide reaction:

a) The balanced neutralization reaction between

H₂SO₄(aq) + KOH(aq) ⇄ H₂O(l) + K₂SO₄(aq)

We must balance the equation by balancing the proportions of H, S, O, and K atoms in the reactants and products. We have 2 K atoms on the products side, hence we must add a coefficient of 2 before KOH:

H₂SO₄(aq) + 2KOH(aq) ⇄ H₂O(l) + K₂SO₄(aq)

We now need to add a coefficient of 2 before H2O since there are 6 atoms of O on the reactants' side and 5 on the products' side:

H₂SO₄(aq) + 2KOH(aq) ⇄ 2H₂O(l) + K₂SO₄(aq

The balanced response is given .

What are neutralization reactions?

A neutralizing reaction occurs when an acid and a base come into contact. Despite having different chemistry of their own, acids and bases balance each other out to create water, which is relatively harmless. In actuality, the typical outcome of an acid and a base is water and salt.

An illustration of a neutralization reaction

An illustration of the neutralization reaction between sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and a strong acid (HCl) that produces neutral salt and water Water and sodium chloride (common salt) are the products of this reaction. A salt is created when the chloride ion and sodium ion from the base combine.
