the correct number of significant digits

addition= -3.220g = 4 significant digits.

subtract= -5.820g = 4 significant digits

How are significant digits determined?

 • Use the following three rules to determine how many significant figures are present in a number:
 • Digits that are not zero are always important. Any zeros in the range of two significant digits are noteworthy.
 • ONLY in the decimal section are a final zero or following zeros important.

What are examples of significant digits?

 • Any two non-zero digits that are separated by a zero are important. For instance, the number 108.0097 has seven significant digits.
 • Every zero that is both to the right and left of a non-zero digit and the decimal point is never meaningful.
 • For instance, the number 0.00798 had three significant digits.

(b) at 400k both compounds are gases. at this temperature, which compound, ch4(g) or ccl4(g), behaves more like an ideal gas? ju
Andrej [43]

CH4 has more ideal gas behavior than CCl4 due to its higher intermolecular interaction.

We must note that ideal gases have minimal interaction with each other. Hence, in deciding which gas has ideal gas behavior, we have to consider the gas that has the least degree of intermolecular interaction.

However, the both gases contain nonpolar molecules but CCl4 has a greater molecular mass and has more intermolecular interaction than CH4 hence CH4 has greater ideal gas behavior than CCl4.

Why can more sugar be dissolved in hot water than cold water (more solute be dissolved in hot solvent then cold solvent)
lesantik [10]
Sugar dissolves faster in hot water than it does in cold water because hot water has more energy than cold water. when water is heated, the molecules gain energy and because of that, move faster. as they move faster, they come in contact with the sugar more often, causing it to dissolve faster.

What happens to the ratio of surface area to volume as the cell increases without the without the cell changing shape
Lena [83]
The important point is that the surface area to the volume ratio gets smaller as the cell gets larger. Thus, if the cellgrows beyond a certain limit, not enough material will be able to cross the membrane fast enough to accommodate theincreased cellular volume.
