Answer: No, the friend is correct. In any function, each input value can only lead to one output value. When you input 3 for the x-values, you would get two output values because 3 is included in both equations. To fix this, you need to have the 3 not included in one of the equations.

For example, you could say y=\left \{ {{2x-2, x\leq 3} \atop {-3, x > 3}} \right. or y=\left \{ {{2x-2, x < 3} \atop {-3, x\geq 3}} \right. because the input value of 3 would not be included twice.

If you look at the attached screenshot, you will see that if you keep your friend's function, inputting 3 will result in two outputs of 4 and -3, so therefore, y=\left \{ {{2x-2,x\leq 3} \atop {-3,x\geq 3}} \right. cannot represent a piecewise function.

Korvikt [17]

Answer:

1)

Volume of pyramid = 1/3(Ab)(h)

Where Ab is the area of base, h is height

Volume of cone = 1/3(Ab)(h)

a) Their formula for finding volume is same. Also, their painting heads are same.

b) Pyramids have a tetragonal base while cones have a polygonal base

2) Pyramids

Volume of cone = (1/3) πr²h

Since Area of a circle = πr²

So

Volume of pyramid = (1/3)(A)(h)

So we can use the formula of a circle in cone's formula

two nascar cars are racing around a 2 mile track. one car can complete a lap in 48 seconds, and the other car can complete one l
Citrus2011 [14]
Let's assume that the faster car has a 2 mile "head start".
The faster car is 1.2 times faster (48/40) than the slower car.
It will take five 2 mile trips to "catch" the other car.
Five 2 mile trips will take 5 * 40 seconds = 200 seconds.
