An increase in the entropy of a system can be described as an increase in the total amount of disorder in a system.

Entropy

Entropy is a measurable physical characteristic and a scientific notion that is frequently connected to a condition of disorder, unpredictability, or uncertainty. From classical thermodynamics, where it was originally recognized, through the microscopic description of nature in statistical physics, to the fundamentals of information theory, the phrase and concept are utilized in a variety of disciplines. It has numerous applications in physics and chemistry, biological systems and how they relate to life, cosmology, economics, sociology, weather science, and information systems, especially the exchange of information.

Assoli18 [71]

A radar receiver indicates that a pulse return as an echo in 20 μs after it was sent. The reflecting object would be 3000 m away .

Phenomenon of hearing back our own sound is called an echo. It is due to successive reflection of sound waves from the surfaces or obstacles of large size. To hear an echo, there must be a time gap of 0.1 second in original sound and the reflected sound.

Given

time =  20 μs = 20 * 10^{-6} s

let distance to the reflecting surface be = x

total distance travelled by pulse will be  = 2x

speed = 3.0 × 10^{8} m/s

distance = speed * time

2x = 3.0 × 10^{8} * 20 * 10^{-6}

   x = 3000 m

The reflecting object would be 3000 m away

Which measure of dispersion indicates the extent to which each individual score in a data set varies from the mean of that set?
vichka [17]

Answer:

Option 2 - Standard deviation

Explanation:

To find : Which measure of dispersion indicates the extent to which each individual score in a data set varies from the mean of that set?

Solution :

Standard deviation is defined as,

  • It is a mathematical measure that is used to evaluate the difference between the mean value of a set of number and each value in the group.
  • It is calculated as the square root of variance by determining the variation between each data point relative to the mean.

The measure of dispersion that indicates how much scores in a sample vary around the mean of the sample is the standard deviation.

Therefore, option 2 is correct.
