In order to slide a heavy desk across the floor at constant speed in a straight line, you have to exert a horizontal force of 80

0 newtons. compare the 800-newton horizontal pushing force f to the frictional force f between the desk and the ground.

The hint is "constant speed".
If there is a net force on an object, what occurs to that object? F net = m*a.... It accelerates!
So, if the desk is going at a CONSTANT speed, what does that tell you about the acceleration? There is a change in speed.
Fnet = m*a Since a = 0 Fnet = 0
Fnet = sum of the force... reflect the direction of F as the positive direction. Sum of the forces in the direction of F = 0 0 = F - friction F = friction
So, if F = 800 N, then friction = 800 N in the opposite direction.

A boy and a girl are on a spinning merry-go-round. The boy is at a radial distance of 1.2 m from the central axis; the girl is a
Licemer1 [7]

Answer:

E) True. The girl has a larger tangential acceleration than the boy.

Explanation:

In this exercise they do not ask us to say which statement is correct, for this we propose the solution to the problem.

Angular and linear quantities are related

          v = w r

          a = α r

the boy's radius is r₁ = 1.2m the girl's radius is r₂ = 1.8m

as the merry-go-round rotates at a constant angular velocity this is the same for both, but the tangential velocity is different

          v₁ = w 1,2 (boy)

          v₂ = w 1.8 (girl)

whereby

          v₂> v₁

reviewing the claims we have

          a₁ = α 1,2

          a₂ = α 1.8

          a₂> a₁

A) False. Tangential velocity is different from zero

B) False angular acceleration is the same for both

C) False. It is the opposite, according to the previous analysis

D) False. Angular acceleration is equal

E) True. You agree with the analysis above,

Alex swims at an average speed of 30 m/min. How far does he swim in 5 min 60 seconds?
kiruha [24]
He will swim 180m if he stays at a constant rate of 30m/min

Explanation:
First I’m going to use 6 min for the 5min 60s
Then if he swims 30m/min then I’m 6min, 30•6 he’ll swim 180m
Hope this helps!

Answer:

power delivered P=Vi=70.72\times 0.1360=9.62W

Explanation:

We have given \Delta V=100\ sin(1000t)

From the equation V_{MAX}=100volt ,\omega =1000

We know that V_{RMS}=\frac{V_{MAX}}{\sqrt{2}}=\frac{100}{1.414}=70.7213volt

Resistance R = 415 OHM

Capacitance C=5.35\mu F=5.35\times 10^{-6}F

Capacvitive reactance X_C=\frac{1}{\omega C}=\frac{1}{1000\times 5.35\times 10^{-6}}=186.9158ohm

Inductance = 0.5 H

Inductive reactance X_L=\omega L=1000\times 0.5=500ohm

Impedance Z=\sqrt{R^2+(X_L-X_C)^2}=\sqrt{415^2+(500-186.9158)^2}=519.8525ohm

Now current i=\frac{V}{Z}=\frac{70.72}{519.8525}=0.1360A

So power delivered P=Vi=70.72\times 0.1360=9.62W
