 R = 11 ohms

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Power of the electric toaster = 1100W

Voltage = 110V

Unknown:

Resistance, R of the heating coli = ?

Solution:

Electric power is given as:

     Electric power = IV

where:

  I is the current

  V is the voltage

       According to Ohm's law, V = IR

 where R is the resistance. If we make current the subject of the formula and substitute, it gives:

                  Power = \frac{[tex]V^{2}}{R}[/tex]

  Power =  \frac{[tex]110^{2}}{R}[/tex]

     R = \frac{Power }{[tex]110^{2}}[/tex] =  \frac{1100 }{[tex]110^{2}}[/tex]

   R = 11 ohms

How did the work of Dmitri Mendeleev differ from that of John Newlands in the development of the periodic table?
Sonja [21]
B.

Both recognized that the elements have repeating properties but Mendeleev realized that there are elements yet to be discovered while Newlands tried to fit the known elements together.

What is the suprising thing that happens in a superconductor
ololo11 [35]
One of the most surprising things about a superconductor is that
it has NO electrical resistance. The resistance doesn't just become
very very very small.  It becomes literally completely zero. (This is
a big part of the reason why it's called a "super-conductor".)

If you start an electric current flowing in a superconductor, you can
connect the ends of it together, and the current keeps going around
and around the loop and never dies out !

A box of mass 13kg sits on a table with a coefficient of static friction of 0.85. What is the maximum force of static friction?
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

108.3 N

Explanation:

The maximum force of static friction acting on the box is given by:

F=\mu N

where

\mu = 0.85 is the coefficient of static friction

N is the normal reaction of the table on the box

Since the box is in equilibrium along the vertical direction, the normal reaction N is equal to the weight of the box, so:

N=mg=(13 kg)(9.8 m/s^2)=127.4 N

And so, the maximum force of static friction is

F=(0.85)(127.4 N)=108.3 N

Organ pipe A, with both ends open, has a fundamental frequency of 360 Hz. The third harmonic of organ pipe B, with one end open,
iragen [17]

Answer:

The length of the pipe A is L_A = 0.4763 m &  the length of the pipe B is L_B = 0.357 m

Explanation:

Fundamental  frequency  = 360 Hz

Velocity = 343 \frac{m}{s}

(a). Length of the pipe is given by

L = \frac{V}{2 f}

Put all the values in above equation we get

L = \frac{343}{2 (360)}

L_A = 0.4763 m

(b). Given that

The third harmonic of organ pipe B = the second harmonic of pipe A

\frac{n_B}{4L_B} = \frac{n_A}{2L_A}

Thus

L_B = \frac{2 n_{B} L_A }{4n_A}

Put all the values in above formula we get

L_B = \frac{2 (3)(0.4763) }{4(2)}

L_B = 0.357 m

Therefore the length of the pipe A is L_A = 0.4763 m &  the length of the pipe B is L_B = 0.357 m
