A post 4 feet tall casts a shadow 3.5 feet long. A tree at the same time of day casts a shadow 24.5 feet long. Find the height o
noname [10]
Answer: The Tree is 28 ft tall

How do we know this. To solve this problem we can use proportions.

4
→ 3.5

x → 24.5

So now our unit number can be found doing 24.5 ÷ 3.5 = 7 So x ÷ 4 must also equall 7.

We can make equation: x ÷ 4 = 7

Know we can use our knowledge of finding x.

x = 7 × 4
x = 28

The tree is 28 ft tall.

Lets check our answer!

4
→ 3.5

28 → 24.5

4 * 7 = 28

3.5 * 7 = 24.5
