Most of the enzymes used as molecular scissors are known as restriction enzymes. What is the reason for this name?
kicyunya [14]
Because when you put a part of the DNA and take it out, you can restrict an ability of that cell. When you cut out a piece of DNA from a pancreas beta cell that codes for insulin synthesis, you restrict the cells ability to make insulin, hence the name "restriction enzyme". I hope this is the answer that you are looking for and it comes to your help.

What type of solution is this cell sitting in?
Dafna1 [17]

Answer:

The correct option is A. The cell is sitting in a hypertonic solution.

Explanation:

A hypertonic solution is a solution in which there are more number of solutes present in the solution than inside the cell. The solutes then tend to pass into the cell through diffusion from the solution.

As it can be seen in the diagram, the concentration of salt is more in the solution i.e 40%. Hence, the salt from the solution enters into the cell by diffusion and has a concentration of 10% inside the cell which shows the cell to be placed in a hypertonic environment.
