Answer:

Part a)

F = 0.056 N

Part b)

a = 28.13 m/s/s

Explanation:

Part a)

Electrostatic force between two charged balls is given as

F = \frac{kq_1q_2}{r^2}

now we will have

q_1 = q_2 = 50 nC

r = 2 cm

now we will have

F = \frac{(9\times 10^9)(50 \times 10^{-9})(50 \times 10^{-9})}{0.02^2}

so here we have

F = 0.056 N

Part b)

Now due to above force the acceleration of one ball which is released is given as

a = \frac{F}{m}

a = \frac{0.056}{2 \times 10^{-3}}

a = 28.13 m/s^2

A proton moves through a magnetic field at 20.3 % of the speed of light. At a location where the field has a magnitude of 0.0062
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

Force on the proton will be .73\times 10^{-14}N

Explanation:

We have given speed of proton is 20.3% of speed of light

Speed of light c=3\times 10^8m/sec

So speed of proton v=\frac{3\times 10^8\times 23}{100}=6.9\times 10^7m/sec

Magnetic field B = 0.00629 T

Charge on proton q=1.6\times 10^{-16}C

Angle between velocity and magnetic field \Theta =137^{\circ}

Force on the proton is equal to F=qvBsin\Theta =1.6\times 10^{-19}\times 6.9\times 10^7\times 0.00629\times sin(137^{\circ})=4.73\times 10^{-14}N

An asteroid is moving along a straight line. A force acts along the displacement of the asteroid and slows it down. The asteroid
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

a)

- 7.04\times10^{11} J

b)

5.03\times10^{5} N

Explanation:

a)

m = mass of the asteroid = 43000 kg

v_{o} = initial speed of asteroid = 7600 m/s

v = final speed of asteroid = 5000 m/s

W = Work done by the force on asteroid

Using work-change in kinetic energy theorem

W = (0.5) m (v^{2} - v_{o}^{2})\\W = (0.5) (43000) (5000^{2} - 7600^{2})\\W = - 7.04\times10^{11} J

b)

F = magnitude of force on asteroid

d = distance traveled by asteroid while it slows down = 1.4 x 10⁶ m

Work done by the force on the asteroid to slow it down is given as

W = - F d\\- 7.04\times10^{11} = - F (1.4\times10^{6})\\F = 5.03\times10^{5} N

A vehicle has an oil leak that is causing the entire oil pan to be wet, but inspection reveals no exact source after cleaning of
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

Technician A is correct

Explanation:

The best approach to solve the problem is that of technician A. using a fluorescent die is the easiest and most efficient way to trace leaks with unknown sources. The fluorescent die will simply illuminate the path to the leaking spot in the engine of the car, without any need for much speculations. This makes this method a sure approach.

However, Technician B's approach still has a lot of assumptions factored into the methodology, and would not work properly. It will still require the painstaking attempts trying to make guesses where the oil leak is coming from, which will lead to wastage of time and energy.

This makes Technician A have the right approach to solving the problem
