Write and solve a system of equation

Mathematics
1 answer:
erastova [34]3 years ago
5 0
First, write an equation system based on the problem
An equation for "Jami and Mami together had 32" is
⇒ j + m = 32 (first equation)
An equation for "If Mami gives Jami 5, they'll have the same amount"
⇒ m - 5 = j + 5 (second equation)

Second, simplify the equation. I simplify the second equation
m - 5 = j + 5
m = j + 5 + 5
m = j + 10

Third, subtitute m with j+10 in first equation
j + m = 32
j + j + 10 = 32
2j + 10 = 32
2j = 22
j = 11

Fourth, subtitute j with 11 in second equation
m = j + 10
m = 11 + 10
m = 21

Jami had $11, Mami had $21

Naya [18.7K]
2 n/3 would be the closest answer although it looks as if the 2 is supposed to be multiplied by n/3 which would lead me to write it as 2(n/3)

Find the area of the blue sector(s). The diameter of the wheel is 12
Ber [7]

We know that to find the area of the entire circle, we are going to use the equation:

A=\pi r^{2}

And we know that the diameter is 12. To find the radius, we divide the diameter by 2, so 12/2 = 6. So the radius is 6.

Now we can use this radius in the equation:

A=\pi (6)^{2}

A=36\pi

Since all of the angles of each section are equal, we can assume that each of the sections has an equal area. There are 5 sections, so we need to divide 36 \pi by 5 to find the area of each section:

\frac{36 \pi}{5} =7.2 \pi

Each section has an area of 7.2\pi units^{2} or, using 3.14 for pi, 7.2*3.14=22.61units^{2}.

Since we are told to find the area of the blue sections, we know that there are 2 sections that are blue. So we need to multiply the area of each section by 2, to find the area of two of the sections:

22.61*2=45.22units^{2}

Therefore, the answer is C) 45.2 units^{2}.

What is the area of the shape below?
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

30 yd²

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello There!

The shown figure is a trapezoid

The first thing we need to do is figure out what the formula for area of a trapezoid is

A=\frac{a+b}{2} h

where a and b = bases and h = height

we are given all of the dimensions so all we have to do is plug in the values

a = 9

b = 6

h = 4

A = \frac{6+9}{2} 4\\6+9=15\\\frac{15}{2} =7.5\\7.5*4=30

so we can conclude that the area of the figure is

30 yd²
