Answer:

The oxygen atom holds the electrons in a covalent bond more closely than the hydrogen atoms and develops a partial negative charge.

Explanation:

Water molecule is composed two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.Both the hydrogen atom interact with the single oxygen by the formation of covalent bond.

  Although the covalent bond is formed but the bonding electrons are not shared equally by both the atom.As oxygen is more electronegative than that of hydrogen atom,oxygen attract the bonding electron pair towards itself.

  As a result the hydrogen atom get partial positive charge and oxygen atom gains partial negative charge.

1. The metamorphic rocks are produced when the parent or the pre-existing rocks (whether sedimentary, igneous, or even metamorphic) are changed by pressure, heat, and the chemical activity of the fluids.

When the prime changing factor is heat, generally due to direct contact, it may go through fundamental modification in recrystallization and texture is known as contact metamorphism. While regional metamorphism takes place when the minerals and texture of the rock are modified by pressure and heat.

He equation for the dissociation of pyridine is
sergeinik [125]

Answer:

10.10

Explanation:

Step 1: Write the basic dissociation reaction for pyridine

C₅H₅N(aq) + H₂O(l) ⇌ C₅H₅NH⁺(aq) + OH⁻(aq)      Kb = 1.9 × 10⁻⁹

Step 2: Calculate [OH⁻]

For a weak base, we will use the following expression.

[OH⁻] = √(Cb × Kb) = √(9.2 × 1.9 × 10⁻⁹) = 1.3 × 10⁻⁴ M

Step 3: Calculate pOH

We will use the definition of pOH.

pOH = -log [OH⁻] = -log 1.3 × 10⁻⁴ = 3.9

Step 4: Calculate pH

We will use the following expression.

pH = 14 - pOH = 14 - 3.9 = 10.10

Give the number of significant figures in this number: 7.8 x 10¹²
denis-greek [22]
The number is written in scientific notation.

The significant figures are the numbers known precisely plus 1 digit that is uncertain.

When the numbers are expressed in scientific notation all the digits before  10^n are significant.

So, 7 and 8 are significant figures and the answer is that the number of significant figures is 2.
