Answer : The correct option is, (c) (-2) charge

Explanation :

For the neutral atom, the number of protons and electrons are equal. But, they are unequal when the atoms present in the form of ions or the atom has some charges.

When an unequal number of electrons and protons then it leads to the formation of ionic species.

Ion : An ion is formed when an atom looses or gains electron.

When an atom looses electrons, it will form a positive ion known as cation.

When an atom gains electrons, it will form a negative ion known as anion.

The neutral atom oxygen has equal number of protons and electrons i.e 8.

The electronic configuration of oxygen atom is:

1s^22s^22p^4

As we know that oxygen has tendency to gain 2 electrons and become stable by fully filled electronic configuration.

By gaining of 2 electrons, an oxygen will form a negative ion i.e, O^{2-}

Thus, the net ionic charge of an oxygen ion is, (-2)

Using complete sentences, explain how to predict the products and balance the reaction between sulfuric acid and potassium hydro
Dahasolnce [82]

The product(s) of the reaction are to be determined given the reactants, sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide. sulfuric acid is an acid, whereas potassium hydroxide is a basic. The results of this neutralizing process are salt and water.

What is the reaction between sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide?

The result will be, H+ from H₂SO₄ reacts with OH- from KOH to generate H₂O. Also, K+ reacts with SO₄²⁻ to create K₂SO4₄

As a result, the balanced equation will be:

\rm H_2SO_4 + 2KOH --- > K_2SO_4 + 2H_2O

Thus, the product(s) of the reaction are to be determined given the reactants, sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide. Sulfuric acid is an acid, whereas potassium hydroxide is a basic. The results of this neutralizing process are salt and water.

Calculate the molarity of a solution prepared by dissolving 11.5 g naoh in enough water to make 1.5 l of solution. 1. 7.6 m 2. 2
zhuklara [117]
Molarity of a solution = (number mol of solute)/ (volume of the solution)

1) Molar mass NaOH= M(Na)+M(O)+M(h)= 23.0+16.0+1.0=40.0 g/mol
2) 11.5 g NaOH *(1mol Naoh/40.0 g NaOH)=0.288 mol NaOH
3)Molarity (NaOH solution) =(0.288 mol)/(1.5 L)=0.192 M≈0.19 M

Why chlorine has high electroaffinity than flourine
Aleksandr-060686 [28]

Answer:

Fluorine has seven electrons in 2p-subshell whereas chlorine has seven electrons in its 3p-subshell. 3p-subshell is relatively larger than 2p-subshell. Therefore, repulsion among the electrons will be more in the 2p-shell of fluorine than 3p-subshell in chlorine. Due to the smaller size and thus, the greater electron-electron repulsions, fluorine will not accept an incoming electron with the same as chlorine.

Scrat [10]

I think you were doing it right. Just find something in your kitchen and google the chemical formula. And from that you can see the elements in it. For example:

Salt, NaCl, Sodium and Chlorine.

Baking Soda, NaHCO3, Sodium, Hydrogen, Carbon and Oxygen.

Vinegar, CH3COOH, Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen
