The sulphate ion forms because all 5 atoms in it have a full octet of outer electrons.
It's just that it needs two more electrons than there are protons in the nuclei of the five atoms that make it up.
Electrons are shared between the sulphur and oxygen, so there are regular covalent bonds.
But to complete the octets, two extra electrons are needed.
that's what gives it the 2- charge.
Covalent bonds hold the ion together.
Ionic bonds hold the sulphate ion close to the metal ion in, for example, magnesium sulphate.

The relative atomic mass is the weighted average mass of elements relative to 1/12th the mass of a 12-C atom.
Isotopes are atoms of the same element with different masses , in other words different numbers of neutrons.
Relative atomic mass =sum of (mass x percentage )
R.a.m = 62.9300 x 69.15% + 64.9200 x 30.85%
= 43.52 + 20.03
= 63.55 amu

What is the name of IBr4?
And is it covalent or ionic?
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer: The name of the IBr_4 is Iodine tetrabromide and it is a covalent compound.

Explanation:

Inter-halogen compounds are compounds which composed of two different halogen atoms. For example ;ICl_3,IF_5 etc.

The naming is done by first writing the central atom symbol's name followed by the prefix corresponding to the number of atoms of another halogen atom like: Mono for 1, di ,for 2 tri for 3, tetra for 4 , penta for 5 etc. After this name of the another halogen is written with suffix 'ide' in the end.

The name of the IBr_4 is Iodine tetra bromide.

In halogen compounds, the difference in electronegativities is not so large due to which they form covalent compounds by the means of sharing the electrons. Hence the Iodine tetrabromide covalent compound.
