Answer: Vestigial structures

Explanation: Vestigial structures are an anatomical feature or behavior that no longer seem to have any purpose in the present form of an organism in the given species. Usually, they are often parts of the body that used to preform important functions in earlier forms of the organism.

Answer:

The body parts which are present in reduced form in the body and have lost their function in the body because of evolution are called <u>vestigial organs</u>.

Explanation:

The vestigial or rudimentary organs are the remnants of the structures or organs which might have been large and functional in the ancestors, or the organisms from which the present-day organisms have evolved. These vestigial organs are often undersized, degenerated and non-functional.

1.Examples of vestigial organs in humans ( Figure 1)

  • Vermiform Appendix- the human appendix is the remnant of the caecum which is large and functional in herbivorous mammals like cows and buffaloes. In these animals, it helps in digestion.
  • Caudal vertebrae - Also known as coccyx or tail bone, the caudal vertebrae is prominent among our close relatives like monkeys, in which this forms a functional tail.

2. Examples of vestigial organs in other animals (Figure 2)

  • Hind-limbs in Python- The python has no use of limbs so these structures have been diminished in them and are present in only rudimentary form.

When do feedback loops fail to work on an ecosystem?
natulia [17]

Answer:

Feedback loop will fail in an ecosystem if the factors regulating the feedback mechanisms fail to function.

Explanation:

Feedback loop is the phenomena in which output is circled back in a way that it is used as input again i.e the reaction is circled back. Its a continuous process.

There are two types of feedback loops, positive and negative, one functions to reinforce and other functions to balance. Positive feedback loops enhance the outputs while negative lower the output and keeps the balance. the variables that are involved in all these processes effect each others so, by eliminating such variables or factors will cause failure of feedback loops.
