6 + 7(b-1) = 5 + b
6 + 7b - 7 = 5 + b
7b - 1 = 5 + b
7b (-b) - 1 (+1) = 5 (+1) + b (-b)
6b = 6
6b/6 = 6/6
b = 1

hope this helps

Which expression is equivalent to 30 (1/2x - 2) +40 (3/4y-4)? (will add pic)
bixtya [17]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

30( \frac{1}{2} x - 2) + 40( \frac{3}{4} y - 4)

Multiply each of the terms in the first parenthesis by 30 and multiply each of the terms in the second parenthesis by 40.

= 15x - 60 + 30y - 160

= 15x + 30y - 220 → C

Simplify the expression.<br><br><br> Write your answer without negative exponents.
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

-5/ (x^19 * y^12)

Step-by-step explanation:

-15x^-10 * y ^ -3 * x^-9 * y^-9/3 (It's writing it like this.)

15 and 3 have a GCF of 3.

-5x^-10 * y^-3 * x^-9 * y^-9/1

Reduce similar occurrences. *twice in a row*

-5x^(-10 + (-9)) * y^(-3 + (-9))/1

Remove extra signs *twice in a row*

-5x^(-10 - 9) * y^(-3 - 9)/1

Remove extraneous 1.

-5x^(-10 - 9) * y^(-3 - 9)

Add integers.

-5x^-19 * y^-12

Negative powers change multiplication to division.

-5 / (x^19 * y^12) is the final answer.

Even with that, the simplified answer wouldn't have negative exponents because of the negative powers rule.

If a certain trip takes 40 minutes when you travel 50 miles per hour, how many minutes would it take if you travel 40 miles per
vitfil [10]

Answer:

It would take 50 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Distance, velocity and time</u>

The speed is the rate at which the distance changes with respect to time. If x is the distance, t is the time, the speed v can be obtained by

\displaystyle v=\frac{x}{t}

We know the trip takes 40 minutes when traveling at 50 miles/hour. The distance can be determined by isolating x in the above equation

x=vt

The given time is expressed in minutes, we need to convert it to hours. 40 minutes is \frac{40}{60}=0.6666...\ hours. The distance is

\displaystyle x=(50)(0.666..)=33.33\ miles

If the speed was 40 miles/hour, the same distance would be covered in t hours, taken from the above equation as

\displaystyle t=\frac{x}{v}

t=\frac{33.33}{40}=0.8333\ hours = 0.83333*60= 50\ minutes
