The given statement is True.

The surface current greatly affects the climate in many parts of the world. The surface temperature of water affects the temperature of the surrounding air.

Warm currents heats the air above it and causes the temperature to be warm. The cold currents absorb the energy from the surrounding and makes the surrounding cooler.

The water absorbs and releases heat more slowly than the land does.

Which statement best explains how power is generated in a tidal power plant?
BlackZzzverrR [31]

B

A barrage is a dam-like structure that is built in the tidal zone of an ocean to capture tidal energy.

Explanation:

It has sluice gates that can be controlled to harness the kinetic energy in the flow of water. The sluice gates also have turbines. During high tides, as the water flows into the barrage, it turns the turbines that generate electricity using the dynamo effect. During low tide, as the water recedes back to the oceans, and the barrage gets emptied, the water flow, again, turns the turbines.

Some barrages first capture the ocean water during high tide, until the dam-like structure is full, without generating electricity. When the tide is low, the sluice gates release the water and the turbines generate electricity. This kind is a one –way power generation.
