Answer:

.25 m/s

Explanation:

We shall use the law of conservation of momentum . We do not use law of conservation of mechanical energy because in such cases there is loss of energy.

Momentum = mass x velocity

Initial momentum of arrow and block

= .15 x 30 +0 = 4.5 J

If final velocity of block be V

Total final momentum of both arrow and block

= .15 x 25 + 3 V

= 3.75 +3V

So

3.75 + 3 V = 4.5

V = .25 m/s

An apple is held completely submerged just below the surface of water in a container. The apple is then moved to a deeper point
kodGreya [7K]

Answer:

c- the same

Explanation:

There will be apparent  reduction in the weight of the apple due to buoyant force acting on it in upward direction . The magnitude of upward directing buoyant force will be equal to weight of water displaced . The weight of displaced water will remain same if it is completely submerged in water and it is moved from one point to another inside water. So in the given two cases , weight of displaced water will same . Hence the buoyant force too will remain same . Hence the apparent weight too will be same .

So force required to hold apple at deeper point inside water will remain same.

A box with mass 25.14 kg is sliding at rest from the top of the slope with height 13.30 m
lutik1710 [3]

Answer:

Explanation:

The first thing we are asked to find is the Force experienced by the box. That is found in the formula:

F - f = ma where F is the force exerted by the box, f is the friction opposing the box, m is the mass, and a is the acceleration (NOT the same as the pull of gravity). But F can be rewritten in terms of the angle of inclination also:

wsin\theta-f=ma where w is the weight of the box. We will use this version of the formula because it will help us answer the second question, which is to solve for a. Filling in:

First we need the weight of the box. Having the mass, we find the weight:

w = mg so

w = 25.14(10) so

w = 251.4 N (I am not paying any attention at all to the sig fig's here, since I noticed no one on this site does!) Now we have the weight. Filling that in:

251.4sin(30) - f = ma Before we go on to fill in for f, let's answer the first question. F = 251.4sin(30) so

F = 125.7   And in order to answer what a is equal to, we find f:

f = μF_n where Fn is the weight of the object.

f = .25(251.4) so

f = 62.85. Filling everything in now altogether to solve for a, the only missing value:

125.7 - 62.85 = 25.14a and

62.85 = 25.14a so

a = 2.5 m/s/s

Now we have to move on to another set of equations to answer the last part. The last part involves the y-dimension. In this dimension, what we know is that

a = -10 m/s/s

v₀ = 0 (it starts from rest)

Δx = -13.30 m (negative because the box falls this fr below the point fro which it started). Putting all that together in the equation for displacement:

Δx = v₀t + \frac{1}{2}at^2 and we are solving for time:

-13.30=0t+\frac{1}{2}(-10)t^2 and

t=\sqrt{\frac{2(-13.30)}{-10} } so

t = 1.6 seconds to reach the bottom of the slope from 13.30 m high.

Consider a heat engine that inputs 10 kJ of heat and outputs 5 kJ of work. What are the signs on the total heat transfer and tot
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

Total heat transfer is positive

Total work transfer is positive

Explanation:

The first law of thermodynamics states that when a system interacts with its surrounding, the amount of energy gained by the system must be equal to the amount of energy lost by the surrounding. In a closed system, exchange of energy with the surrounding can be done through heat and work transfer.

Heat transfer to a system is positive and that transferred from the system is negative.

Also, work done by a system is positive while the work done on the system is negative.

Therefore, from the question, since the heat engine inputs 10kJ of heat, then heat is being transferred to the system. Hence, the sign of the total heat transfer is positive (+ve)

Also, since the heat engine outputs 5kJ of work, it implies that work is being done by the system. Hence the sign of the total work transfer is also positive (+ve).

3. How did Kepler's work influence Newton?
Katarina [22]

Johannes Kepler and his laws were a great influence on Isaac Newton. ... Newton used his laws of gravity and motion to derive Kepler's laws and show that the motion of the planets could be explained using mathematics and physics.

The effects of force on gravity is more noticeable when the object is_____
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Gravity only becomes noticeable when there is a really massive object like a moon, planet or star. We are pulled down towards the ground because of gravity. The gravitational force pulls in the direction towards the centre of any object.
