5(3x+7)=3(5x+7)

15x+35=15x+21

cancel out the 15x. If you bring over one of the 15x it's going to naturally cancel each other out.

35=21

35 does not equal 21

it would be the equal sign with the slash coming through it

<span>Using the Triangle Inequality Theorem

</span><span>The sum of two side lengths of a triangle is always greater than the third side
</span>
first one: 6, 22 , 10
6 + 22   > 10 :  yes
22 + 10 > 6   :  yes
6 + 10 > 22   :  No because 16 < 22
These 3 lengths could NOT be lengths of sides of a triangle

second one: 8 , 15 , 22
8 + 15   > 22 :  yes
15 + 22 > 8   :  yes
8 + 22 > 15   :  yes
These 3 lengths could  be lengths of sides of a triangle

Second option
8 cm, 15 cm, 22 cm

Find the equation for the line passing through the point (−1,1) ( − 1 , 1 ) and parallel to the line whose equation is y=2x+12.
tekilochka [14]
So, parallel lines have the same slope, therefore a parallel line to 2x+12, will have the same slope as that one, so which is it?   \bf y=\stackrel{slope}{2}x\stackrel{y-intercept}{+12}

so, we're really looking for the equation of a line whose slope is 2, and runs through -1,1.

\bf \begin{array}{lllll}&#10;&x_1&y_1\\&#10;%   (a,b)&#10;&({{ -1}}\quad ,&{{ 1}})&#10;\end{array}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;% slope  = m&#10;slope = {{ m}}= \cfrac{rise}{run} \implies 2&#10;\\\\\\&#10;% point-slope intercept&#10;\stackrel{\textit{point-slope form}}{y-{{ y_1}}={{ m}}(x-{{ x_1}})}\implies y-1=2[x-(-1)]&#10;\\\\\\&#10;y-1=2(x+1)\implies y-1=2x+2\implies y=2x+3
