Hello!
To express the number 0.006 in scientific notation, or write the number in a different form where there are not as many zeroes, the first thing you need to do is move the decimal to the right until the number remaining is 1 or above and less than 10. When you do this, you should have moved the decimal right 3 times and resulted in 6. Then, multiply 6 by 10 to the power of the number of times you moved the decimal. This would result in your answer: 6*10^-3
**Note, when you move the decimal to the right, the power is negative and when you have to move it to the left, the power is positive

6 x 10^-3 because the decimal point is 3 place value units away from the 6, and scientific notation is a x 10^n, where n can be a positive of a negative depending on the number

Barbra bought 2 greetings cards at $1.50 each, 3 packages of wrapping paper at $2.29 each and 1 roll of ribbon for $1.45. How mu
koban [17]

Answer:

$11.32

Step-by-step explanation:

Greeting Cards = $1.5 x 2 = $3

Wrapping Paper = $2.29 x 3 =  $6.87

Ribbon = $1.45 x 1 = $1.45

So now we must add the totals to figure out how much money Barbra spent in total.

$3 + $6.87 + $1.45 = $11.32

A phone company offers two monthly plans. In plan A, the customer pays a monthly fee of $35 and then an additional 9 cents per m
lbvjy [14]

Answer:

Lesser than 6.9 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Let m represent the number of minutes of phone use with either plan A or plan B.

In plan A, the customer pays a monthly fee of $35 and then an additional 9 cents(9/100 = $0.09) per minute of use. This means that the total cost of m minutes would be

0.09m + 35

In Plan B, the customer pays a monthly fee of $55.70 and then an additional 6 cents(6/100 = $0.06) per minute of use. This means that the total cost of m minutes would be

0.06m + 55.70

Therefore, for the amounts of monthly phone use for which Plan A will cost less than Plan B, it becomes

0.09m + 35 < 0.06m + 55.70

0.09m - 0.06m < 55.70 - 35

0.03m < 20.7

m < 20.7/3

m < 6.9
