Two trains leave the station at the same time, one heading west and the other east. The westbound train travels 14 miles per hou

Hello,
Assume v the speed of the eastbound train,
v-14 the speed of the westbound train
v*4+(v-14)*4=800
==>8v=800+56
==>v=107 (mi/h)
Speed of the westbound train: 107-14=93 (mi/h)

What is the solution set of the compound inequality x+1<-2x+11<3x+5
VikaD [51]

Answer:

6/5 < x < 10/3 is the desired solution.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the given compound inequality is :

x + 1 < -2 x + 11 < 3 x + 5

Now, consider the first two term of the inequality, we get:

x + 1 < -2 x + 11

Subtracting 1 from both sides, we get:

x + 1  - 1 < -2 x + 11  - 1

or, x < -2x + 10

or, x + 2x < 10

or, 3 x < 10

or, x <  10/3

Similarly, considering the last two terms of the given inequality, we get:

-2 x + 11 < 3 x + 5

Subtracting 11 from both sides, we get:

-2 x + 11  - 11 < 3 x + 5 - 11

or, - 2 x < 3 x-6

or, 6 < 5 x

or, x > 6/5

Hence, combining two solutions, we get:    6/5 < x < 10/3

So, the desired value of x should be more than (6/5) but less than (10/3)

Substitution
1.y=-5x-19
y=-6x-24

2.y=-6x-22
y=-3x-10
omeli [17]

Answer:

1. y=5 and x=-5

2. y=2 and x=-4

Step-by-step explanation:

1.y=-5x-19

y=-6x-24

since both equations are equal to y, they are also equal to eachother

-5x-19=-6x-24

addition P.O.E.

x-19=-24

addition P.O.E.

x=-5

substitute x into one equation

y=-5*-5-19

y=6

2. y=-6x-22

y=-3x-10

since both equations are equal to y, they are also equal to eachother

-6x-22=-3x-10

addition P.O.E.

-22=3x-10

addition P.O.E.

-12=3x

division P.O.E.

-4=x

substitute x into one equation

y=-3*-4-10

y=2

Han ran 10 meters in 2.7 seconds. Priya ran 10 meters in 2.4 seconds. How long would it take han to run 50 meters.
Lina20 [59]

Hans would take 13.5 seconds to run 50 meters

Priya would take 12 seconds to run 50 meters

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since they each ran 10 meters for a certain amount of time you would multiply the seconds by 5 since 10x5=50

When you do that you get

13.5 for Han's time by multiplying 2.7x5=13.5

and

12 seconds for Priya's time by multiplying 2.4x5
