Two airplanes left the same airport and arrived at the same destination at the same time. The first airplane left at 8:00 a.m. a

nd traveled at an average rate of 496 miles per hour. The second airplane left at 8:30 a.m. and traveled at an average rate of 558 miles per hour. Let x represent the number of hours that the first plane traveled.
How many hours did it take the first plane to travel to the destination?

Enter an equation that can be used to solve this problem in the first box.

Solve for x and enter the number of hours in the second box.

The formula for distance is equal to:

d = v * t

where d is distance, v is velocity or speed, and t is time

Since the distance travelled by the two airplane is similar, therefore we can create the initial equation:

v1 * t1 = v2 * t2

We know that v1 = 496, and v2 = 558 so:

496 t1 = 558 t2

or

x = 558 t2 / 496

We also know that airplane 1 travelled 30 minutes (0.5 hours) earlier than airplane 2, therefore:

x = t2 + 0.5

Hence,

496 (t2 + 0.5) = 558 t2

496 t2 + 248 = 558 t2

t2 = 4 hours

x = t2 + 0.5 = 4 + 0.5

x = 4.5 hours

So the equation is:

x = 558 t2 / 496

And the first plane travelled:

x = 4.5 hours

Circle O has a circumference of 88π cm.
Lena [83]

Answer

44

Step-by-step explanation:

R = C/(2*Pi).

So, in order to find the radius from the circumference, you use the formula R = C/(2*Pi). In other words, just divide the circumference by 2 times pi.

A company manufactures two types of electric hedge trimmers, one of which is cordless. The cord-type trimmer requires 2 hours to
Delvig [45]

There are commonly used four inequalities:

Less than = <

Greater than = >

Less than and equal = ≤

Greater than and equal = ≥

The inequalities that describe the constraints on the number of each type of hedge trimmer produced are:

x + y ≤ 200

2x + 10y ≤ 1000

What is inequality?

It shows a relationship between two numbers or two expressions.

There are commonly used four inequalities:

Less than = <

Greater than = >

Less than and equal = ≤

Greater than and equal = ≥

We have,

Total number of hours = 1000

Total number of trimmers = 200

Let x represent the number of cord-type models,

Let y represent the number of cordless models.

Now,

x + y ≤ 200

2x + 10y ≤ 1000

Thus,

The inequalities that describe the constraints on the number of each type of hedge trimmer produced are:

x + y ≤ 200

2x + 10y ≤ 1000

Remark
The key step is just to subtract 5 from both sides. The pointed of the inequality still points away from the variable and towards the number. As long as that remains true, the correct answer can be found.

Solution
2.7 ≤ b + 5  Subtract 5 from both sides.
2.7 - 5 ≤ b
- 2.3 ≤ b Write with the variable on the left.
b ≥ - 2.3  <<<< answer
