Answer: 2Mg + O2 -----> 2MgO

Explanation:

For an equation to be balanced, the number of atoms of each element on the left hand side of the equation must be equal to the number of atoms of each element on the right hand side of the equation.

Only this equation,

2Mg + O2 -----> 2MgO, meets that criteria.

Left hand side,

Mg =2, O =2.

Right hand side ,

Mg = 2, O =2

The equation is balanced.

Choice 1) Has 3 Mg one one side of the equation and 2 on the other, NOT the answer.

Choice 2) has 2Mg and 2O on each side, it is balanced

Choice 3) 4N on one side and 2N on the other, NOT the answer

Choice 4) 4N on one side and 1N on the other, NOT the answer

What was the half-life of a new isotope?
REY [17]
The half-life of any substance is the amount of time taken for half of the original quantity of the substance present to decay. The half-life of a radioactive substance is characteristic to itself, and it may be millions of years long or it may be just a few seconds.

In order to determine the half-life of a substance, we simply use:
t(1/2) = ln(2) / λ

Where λ is the decay constant for that specific isotope.

A Gas OCCUPIES 525ML AT A PRESSURE OF 85.0 kPa WHAT WOULD THE VOLUME OF THE GAS BE AT THE PRESSURE OF 65.0 kPa
german

Boyle's law of ideal gas: This law states that the volume of a gas is inversely proportional to its pressure at a constant temperature. Acc to this law we can write the relation of pressure and volume as:

PV=Constant

That means:

P_{1}V_{1}=P_{2}V_{2}

From that equation we can calculate Volume of gas at a certain pressure:

P₁=Initial pressure

V₁=Initial volume

P₂=Final pressure

V₂= Final volume

Here P₁, initial pressure is given as 85.0 kPa

V₁, initial volume is given as 525 mL

P₂, final pressure is 65.0 kPa

P_{1}V_{1}=P_{2}V_{2}

so,

V_{2}=85\times 525\div 65

=686 mL

Volume of gas will be 686 mL.
