The regular price of a child's entry ticket to a water park is $6 less than that for an adult's. The park offers half off all en

try tickets during the off-peak season. The Sandlers paid a total of $78 for 1 adult ticket and 2 child's tickets to the water park during the off-peak season. The following equation represents this situation, where x represents the regular price of an adult ticket: 78 = one-half x + (x − 6)

Let the price of adult's ticket be x
the expression for the child's ticket is x-6

The price of adult's ticket during off-peak season is \frac{1}{2}x
The price of child's ticket during off-peak season is \frac{1}{2}(x-6)

The total cost paid by The Sandlers is $78
The equation is 78= \frac{1}{2}x- \frac{1}{2}(2(x-6)) = \frac{1}{2}x+(x-6)

rearranging to solve the equation
78= \frac{1}{2}x+x-6
78= \frac{3x}{2} -6
78+6= \frac{3x}{2}
(84)(2)=3x
\frac{168}{3} =x
x=56

The price of one adult's ticket is $56 (normal price) and the price of one child's ticket is $50

It could not be 73º because if you add that to 120 then it will be more than 180 degrees, which is the total number of degrees in a triangle. Hope this helps!

Find the vertical asymptotes. 2x2 + 7x + 6 y = 3x2 + 10x - 8 * = [ [?], x=
Llana [10]

Answer:

-\frac{77}{24}

Step-by-step explanation:

1. rewrite the equation in standard form: 4\cdot \frac{3}{2}\left(y-\left(-\frac{41}{24}\right)\right)=\left(x-\left(-\frac{3}{2}\right)\right)^2

2. find (h,k), the vertex. the vertex is \left(h,\:k\right)=\left(-\frac{3}{2},\:-\frac{41}{24}\right)

3. find the 'focal length' of the parabola - the focal length is the distance between the vertex and the focus. from the vertex we can see that the focal length, p, = 3/2

4. Parabola is symmetric around the y-axis and so the asymptote is a line parallel to the x-axis, a  distance p from the \left(-\frac{3}{2},\:-\frac{41}{24}\right) y coordinate which is at  -\frac{41}{24}\right). Set up the equation:

y=-\frac{41}{24}-p

5. substitute and solve:

y=-\frac{41}{24}-\frac{3}{2}

y = -\frac{77}{24}

hope this helps, ask me questions if you still don't understand.
