The sum of y+x, or 5+7, is rational.  This is because each integer(non fraction/decimal)is rational, it is also rational.

Olegator [25]

Given :

Nathan smiled at 50 people one day and recorded that 36 people smiled back at him.

To Find :

How many people should Nathan expect to return a smile if he smiles at 650 people over a period of time.

Solution :

Ratio of people smiled by total number of people is :

R = \dfrac{36}{50}

Now, it is given that we have to use the given conditions.

Therefore, ratio will be same :

\dfrac{s}{650}=\dfrac{36}{50}\\\\s = \dfrac{36}{50}\times 650\\\\s = 468

Therefore, number of smiles Nathan expect to return is 468.

A pump fills a pool at the rate of 20 cubic meters in an hour. If each cubic meter of water costs $10, how many minutes will the
fomenos

The first thing any good mathematician does is convert the measurements to the same unit as what the question is asking. In this problem, it states that the pool fills at a rate of 20 cubic meters per hour. Just keep in mind that an hour is 60 minutes.

The next step is to see how many cubic meters will cost $300. This can be done by dividing 300 by 10. This gets you 30 cubic meters of water.

You already know that 60 minutes is 20 cubic meters of water. That leaves the remaining 10 cubic meters of water. By dividing the rate given, you get that 30 minutes is 10 cubic meters of water. Add the 60 and 30 together to get 90 minutes.

It will take 90 minutes for the pump to use $300.

I don't understand how to solve this, please help!
murzikaleks [220]

Answer:

x+1 , x<-1

x²-bx-4  , -1≤x≤4

1/2 x +a

substitute x=-1 , continuous everywhere

x+1=x²-bx-4 when x=-1

-1+1=-1²-b-4

<h2>1+b-4=0 ⇒ +b-3 ⇒ b=3</h2>

then for :

x²-bx-4=1/2 x +a for x=4

4²-4b-4=1/2x+a

16-4(3)-4=4/2+a

16-12-4-2=a

<h2>a=-2</h2>

the equations will be :

x+1

x²-3x-4

1/2x-2

I hope this help
