Explain why the boiling point of br2 (59°c) is lower than that of iodine monochloride, icl (97°c), even though they have nearly
vfiekz [6]
The boiling point of bromine (br2) is lower than iodine monochloride (icl) because icl molecules have a higher melting point. Also, the atoms of iodine monochloride have more electrons causing the intermolecular forces between iodine forces to be stronger. As the iodine forces are stronger, the boiling point will be higher.

How much heat is required to convert 422 g of liquid h2o at 23.5 °c into steam at 150 °c?
Misha Larkins [42]
Heat is given by multiplying the specific heat capacity of a substance by mass and the change in temperature. The heat capacity of water is Approximately 4184 J/K/C.
Therefore, heat = mc0 mass in kg
                         = (422/1000) × 4184 × (100-23.5)
                         = 135072.072 J
Latent heat of vaporization is 2260 kJ/kg
Thus the heat will be 0.422 × 2260000 = 953720 J
Heat to raise steam from 100 to 150
    2000 × 0.422 ×50 = 42200 J
Thus the heat required is (135072.072 + 953720 + 42200) = 1330992.07 Joules or 1330 kilo joules

An igneous rock with large crystals cooled
riadik2000 [5.3K]
The shape of an igneous rock is based on the time it takes for the rock to cool. The quicker an igneous rock is formed, the smaller the rock is going to be. If an igneous rock cools down slowly, It will be larger. Therefore an igneous rock with large crystals cooled down slowly. Therefore the answer is choice 1.

Describe what happens to the molecules in the ice as temperature of the ice increases
german

Answer:

When you heat ice, the individual molecules gain kinetic energy, but until the temperature reaches the melting point, they don't have energy to break the bonds that hold them in a crystal structure. They vibrate more quickly within their confines as you add heat, and the temperature of the ice goes up.
