We can use the law of sines to solve this...

sin30 / 4.38 = sin2 / y          (multiply both sides by y)
ysin30 / 4.38 = sin2            (multiply both sides by 4.38)
ysin30 = 4.38sin2                (divide both sides by sin30)
y = 4.38sin2 / sin30
y = .305719                      (change to degrees)
y = 18°

Solve the problem:
stepan [7]

volume of the box is 675 cubic inches

A machine produces open boxes using square sheets of plastic.

It is a square sheet so length and width are same

Lets assume length as x so width is also x

The machine cuts equal-sized squares measuring 3 inches on a side from each corner of the sheet.

After turning up the sides the height of the box becomes 3 inches

We know the volume of a box formula

Volume = Length * width * height

We know length is  x , width is x  and height = 3

So V = x * x * 3

Given volume = 675 cubic inches

675 = x * x * 3

675 = x^2* 3

Divide by 3 on both sides

225 = x^2

Now we take square root on both sides

x = 15

the length of one side of the open box is 15 inches.

I will mark you as brainliest if you're answer is correct
GalinKa [24]

Answer:

perimeter = 28.13 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculate the length of a line drawn from A to C.

sin 85 = b/8, b = 7.97

cos 85 = c/8, c = 0.697

AC² =7.97² + (6 + 0.697)² = 63.52 + 44.85 = 108.37

AC = 10.41

Now you have a right triangle ADC with a known hypotenuse and  one leg.

Using the Pythagorean theorem:

DC² = 10.41² - 5²

DC² = 108.37 - 25 = 83.37

DC = 9.13 cm

perimeter = 5 + 6 + 8 + 9.13 = 28.13 cm
