Peppered moths vary in color from light gray to almost black. The color of any moth depends on how many black spots are found on

its wings. The name "peppered" refers to these black spots. During the day, the moths rest on trees. In England where the moths live, many light gray trees were covered with soot that came from the smoke stacks of factories.The trees got darker and darker from the soot. Over time the peppered moth population in polluted areas A) will become extinct. B) will become darker in color. C) will probably stay the same. D) will become lighter in color.

The correct answer is B) Will become darker in color

Explanation:

According to the evolution theory and the natural selection model, organisms adapt to changes in the environment and evolve as features that make them more suitable to survive and reproduce prevail over time. This implies, in the case presented peppered moths that are darker will be more likely to survive and reproduce because they can camouflage in the dark trees. This will cause over time, most of the peppered moths are darker (Option B) as this feature represents an advantage in terms of survival and reproduction. Similarly, if trees are no longer covered with soot the peppered moth population will evolve to fit in new conditions.

4. Chemical formula, mg (Cl0₃)2
grin007 [14]

Answer:

0.017mole

0.0033M

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Formula of the compound:

           Mg(ClO₃)₂

Mass of the sample  = 3.24g

Unknown:

Number of moles of the sample = ?

Molarity  = ?

Solution:

The number of moles of any substance is given as:

   Number of moles  = \frac{mass}{volume}

 Molar mass of Mg(ClO₃)₂  = 24 + 2[35.5 + 3(16)]  = 191g/mol

    Number of moles  = \frac{3.24}{191}   = 0.017mole

Molarity is the number of moles of a solute in a solution:

    Molarity  = \frac{number of moles }{volume}

 Volume given  = 5.08L

  Molarity  = \frac{0.017}{5.08}  = 0.0033M

For the reaction 2H2+O2 2H2O how many liters of water can be made from 5.00 L of oxygen gas and an excess of Hydrogen at STP
Veseljchak [2.6K]
5L O2 x 1 mol O2/ 22.4L O2 x 2 mol H20/ 1 mol O2 x 22.4L H20/ 1 mol H20 = 10 L H2O
For future reference though, since its at STP that means that the coefficient are in proportion. Since oxygen has a coefficient of 1 and water has a coefficient of 2 for every 1 liter of oxygen there is 2 liters of water. Hence you started with 5 liters and ended with 10
