The enzymes involved in dna replication, do it with extreme fidelity. the error rate is approximately 1 in every 100,000 nucleot

ide base pairings. when dna replication, however, is complete the number in correct pairing is considerably much lower. explain what process occurs to reduce the number of incorrect pairings when dna replication is complete.

The correct answer is mismatch repair.
Cells have three different mechanisms to correct any replication errors and DNA damage. These include: proofreading (a mechanism correcting errors during the replication process), mismatch repair and DNA damage repair pathways (which detect DNA damage throughout the cell cycle).
Mismatch repair is the process that happens immediately after the completion of the DNA replication. It corrects any errors and mispaired bases that were not corrected by the proofreading processes. The process involves a group of proteins which recognises and binds to the error and another group which cuts and remove the misplaced DNA. A DNA polymerase puts the right DNA sequence in place and a DNA ligase connects the pieces.
