Answer: 33%

Explanation: Because carbon atoms are only 1/3 of the compound since the other 2 atoms are oxygen. Like H20, Oxygen is one out of the three atoms in the compound.

Answer:

27.29 % of CO2 is carbon.

Explanation:

Not every element has the same molar mass, so they are present in a different %

Step 1: Calculating the molar mass of CO2

⇒CO2 has 1 carbon atom and 2 oxygen atoms

⇒ Molar mass of C= 12.01g/mole

⇒Molar mass of O = 16g/mole

⇒Molar mass of CO2 = 12.01 + 2*16g/mole = 44.01g /mole

Step 2: find the percentage of Carbon

To find the percentage of carbon, we will calculate the ratio Molar mass Carbon / Molar mass CO2

⇒ (12.01 / 44.01) * 100 % = 0.2729 * 100 % = 27.29 %

27.29 % of CO2 is carbon. This means that 72.71 % of CO2 is oxygen ( 100 - 27.29 = 72.71)

How to extract salt crystal from salt water
Semenov [28]

Answer:

Add decanoic acid. Another way to separate salt and water is via chemical reaction. For instance, research has shown that treating salt water with a chemical called decanoic acid is a reliable way to remove the salt.

Methane is a major component of natural gas, which is used as a fuel in homes.Write a balanced equation for the complete oxidati
nexus9112 [7]

Answer:

CH4(g) + 2O2(g) --> CO2(g) + 2H2O(g)

Explanation:

Methane is an hydrocarbon. Whenever hydrocarbon undergoes a reactio with oxygen, the products formed are carbon(iv) oxide and water.

The equation of the reaction is given as;

CH4 + O2 --> CO2 + H2O

Upon balancing the equation, we have;

CH4(g) + 2O2(g) --> CO2(g) + 2H2O(g)

Round 0.0645 g to 2 significant figures
Hoochie [10]
The number of significant figures within a number are the amount digits that are required to specify a number to a certain degree of accuracy. In the number, 0.0645 g, the 6 is the most significant figure and 4 is the second most significant figure. Therefore, rounding to two significant figures yields 0.064g.

How do I figure out polarity? thanks!
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

With some chemical knowledge, you can fairly easily guess if a molecule will be polar or not. Each atom will have a different level of electronegativity, or ability to attract electrons. Actually calculating the polarity of a molecule precisely, however, requires determining the shape of the molecule and performing vector addition. The length of each vector will correspond to the electronegativity of the atom in each bond. The direction of the vector will correspond to molecular shape.

 Draw the molecule in standard chemical format, with all atoms and free electrons shown in the drawing.

 Determine the shape of the molecule. With one or two bonded atoms, the molecule will be linear. With two bonded atoms and unbonded electrons, the molecule will be angular. With three bonded atoms and no free electrons, the molecule will be flat triangular. With three bonded atoms and a set of free electrons, the molecule will be triangular, pyramidal. With four bonded atoms, the molecule will be pyramidal.

How to Know If a Compound Is Polar or Non-Polar?

Updated April 24, 2017

By David Ward

Determine the electronegativity of each atom in the molecule. Use a standard measurement, such as a centimeter per whole unit of electronegativity, to determine the length of each vector.

Draw a vector of the appropriate length for each atom that you determined vector length. Draw them facing the direction they would face in the molecule, according to the shape determined in Step 2.

Line up the vectors end to end. The distance between your starting point and the final vector is the measurement of polarity in the molecule. For example, if you used 1 cm per whole unit of electronegativity, and your final distance between the last vector and your starting point is 5 mm, the molecule has a polarity of 0.5 in that direction.
