High-Beams should be used outside cities and in rural areas. When following a car from behind you should dim your lights when you are about 200-300 ft from the car you are following. This is because the light reflects off of the rear view mirror and other shiny objects and can impair the drivers sight. High-Beam lights should also be dimmed when there is an oncoming vehicle as it can impair their line of sight as well. This prevents fewer accidents from happening.
