N(+1)
P(+5)
O(-2)

-3*3+(+1)*12+(+5)+(-2)*4=-9+12+5-8 =0 -the sum of oxidation number in the molecule should be equal zero.

Explanation:

Hello!

Let's solve this!

In a salt, we must take into account that the sum of the oxidation numbers is equal to zero since the molecule is stable.

In this case the molecule is a salt and is (NH4) 3PO4

N = -3

H = + 1 (there are four atoms in total is +4)

(NH4) 3 = (- 3 + 4) * 3 = + 3

P = + 5

O = -2 (since there are 4 atoms in total it is -8)

PO4 = + 5-8 = -3

The total is: -3 + 3 = 0

We verify that the charges give a total of zero, so that our calculation is well done.

butalik [34]

Answer: The balanced chemical equation is written below.

Explanation:

Law of conservation of mass states that mass can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can only be transformed from one form to another form. This also means that total number of individual atoms on reactant side must be equal to the total number of individual atoms on the product side.

A balanced chemical equation always follows this law.

For the given chemical reaction, the balanced equation follows:

HClO_4+KOH\rightarrow KClO_4+H_2O

This is considered as neutralization reaction because an acid reacts with a base to produce a salt and water.

Hence, the balanced chemical equation is written above.

A compound has a chemical composition of 97.6 g carbon, 4.9 g hydrogen, 52 g oxygen, 45.5 g nitrogen. What is the empirical form
Alekssandra [29.7K]
First step is to calculate the mole of each element
that is;
carbon 97.6/12=8.13moles
hydrogen= 4.9/1=4.9 moles
oxygen 52/16=3.25 moles
nitrogen=45.5/14=3.25 moles

step two is to calculate the mole ratio by dividing with the smallest number of moles
that is divide each mole with 3.25moles
carbon=8.13/3.25 =5/2
hydrogen=4.9/3.25= 3/2
oxygen=3.25/3.25=1
nitrogen=3.25/3.25=1
step 3; multiply all the mole ratio by 2 to remove the fraction
carbon=5/2 x2 =5
hydrogen=3/2 x2=3
oxygen=1 x2=2
nitrogen =1x2=2
therefore the empirical formula is C5H3O2N2(answer c)

Why is it more difficult to remove an
Tom [10]
In general, the further away an electron is from the nucleus, the easier it is for it to be expelled. In other words, ionization energy is a function of atomic radius; the larger the radius, the smaller the amount of energy required to remove the electron from the outer most orbital. For example, it would be far easier to take electrons away from the larger element of Ca (Calcium) than it would be from one where the electrons are held tighter to the nucleus, like Cl (Chlorine). Hope this helped a little not the exact answer though :)

As fuel is burned in an airplane, it seems to disappear from the tank, suggesting that matter is destroyed during the reaction.
gregori [183]

Answer:

Well we know that matter is neither created nor destroyed by chemical reactions or physical transformations. It is not destroyed it simply was converted to gas. =D
