Physics

Answer:

The magnitude of the resultant is approximately 5.391 units.

Explanation:

We notice that vectors have the following characteristics: A magnitude and direction. That is:

\vec v = r\cdot (\cos \theta\,\hat{i}+\sin \theta \,\hat{j})

Where:

r - Magnitude, dimensionless.

\theta - Direction, measured in radians.

This expression can be rearranged as:

\vec v = r\cdot \cos \theta \,\hat{i}+r\cdot \sin \theta \,j

\vec v = v_{x}\,\hat {i}+v_{y}\,\hat{j}

Where:

v_{x} = r\cdot \cos \theta

v_{y} = r\cdot \sin \theta

If we know a set of vectors of the form \vec {v} = v_{x}\,\hat{i}+v_{y}\,\hat{j}, the resultant vector (\vec {R}) is the vectorial sum of every vector in the set:

\vec{R} = \Sigma_{i=1}^{n} v_{i,x}\,\hat{i}+\Sigma_{i=1}^{n}v_{i,y} \,\hat{j}

If we know that \vec{A} = 2.5\,\hat{i}+4.3\,\hat{j}, \vec {B} = 6.1\,\hat{i}-2.1\,\hat{j}, \vec C = -3.6\,\hat{i}+1.0\,\hat{j} and \vec{D} = -1.5\,\hat{i}-7.3\,\hat{j}, the resultant vector is:

\vec {R} = \vec {A}+\vec {B} + \vec {C} + \vec {D}

\vec {R}=(2.5+6.1-3.6-1.5)\,\hat{i} + (4.3-2.1+1.0-7.3)\,\hat{j}

\vec {R} = 3.5\,\hat{i} -4.1\,\hat{j}

And lastly, we obtain the magnitude of the resultant by Pythagoras' Theorem:

\|\vec R\| = \sqrt{3.5^{2}+(-4.1)^{2}}

\|\vec {R}\| \approx 5.391

The magnitude of the resultant is approximately 5.391 units.

A 0.0434-m3 container is initially evacuated. Then, 4.19 g of water is placed in the container, and, after some time, all of the
adell [148]

Answer:

P =18760.5 Pa

Explanation:

Given that

Volume ,V= 0.0434 m³

Mass ,m= 4.19 g = 0.00419 kg

T= 417 K

If we assume that water vapor is behaving like a ideal gas ,then we can use ideal gas equation

Ideal gas equation    P V = m R T

p=Pressure ,V = Volume ,m =mass

T=Temperature ,R=Universal gas constant

Now by putting the values

P V = m R T

For water R= 0.466 KJ/kgK

P x 0.0434 = 0.00419 x 0.466 x 417

P =18.7605 KPa

P =18760.5 Pa

Therefore the answer is 18760.5 Pa

19) A child on a sled starts from rest at the top of a 15.0° slope. If the trip to the bottom takes 15.2 s,
sveticcg [70]

Answer: 288.8 m

Explanation:

We have the following data:

t=15.2 s is the time it takes to the child to reach the bottom of the slope

V_{o}=0 is the initial velocity (the child started from rest)

\theta=15\° is the angle of the slope

d is the length of the slope

Now, the Force exerted on the sled along the ramp is:

F=ma (1)

Where m is the mass of the sled and a its acceleration

In addition, if we draw a free body diagram of this sled, the force along the ramp will be:

F=mg sin \theta (2)

Where g=9.8 m/s^{2} is the acceleration due gravity

Then:

ma=mg sin \theta (3)

Finding a:

a=g sin \theta (4)

a=9.8 m/s^{2} sin(15\°) (5)

a=2.5 m/s^{2} (6)

Now, we will use the following kinematic equations to find d:

V=V_{o}+at (7)

V^{2}=V_{o}^{2}+2ad (8)

Where V is the final velocity

Finding V from (7):

V=at=(2.5 m/s^{2})(15.2 s) (9)

V=38 m/s (10)

Substituting (10) in (8):

(38 m/s)^{2}=2(2.5 m/s^{2})d (11)

Finding d:

d=288.8 m
