The process that the cell is undergoing is called mitosis. This is the division of a cell. In more correct terms, this is the separation and the splitting into equal number of the chromosomal material in the cell for replication to retain the full number of chromosomes in each cell. In the fourth picture of the microscope analysis, there is the metaphase stage. This is the stage the involves the separation of the chromosomes. The chromatids,  the half components of the chromosomes, separate. Thus gives rise to the two sides that can then result in the two cells from one cell.
