What I do with fractions is i turn them to decimals and after im done doing whatever with them I put them back as fractions so....

  3/5 is .6 in decimal form and turn the mixed number 1  5/9 into 14/9 and the turn the fraction into decimal by dividing so 14/9 turns into 1.55555555556 so you would round it up to 2 so...

   0.6 divided 2 = 0.3

           So 0.3 put as a fraction is 3/10

The sum of two numbers is 67. The larger number is 4 more than 2 times the smaller. What are the two numbers?
Paha777 [63]
X,y - two numbers (x > y)

(1)    x + y = 67 ⇒ x = 67 - y
(2)    x - 4 = 2y

subtitute (1) to (2)

67 - y - 4 = 2y
63 - y = 2y    |add y to both sides
63 = 3y    |divide both sides by 3
y = 21

subtitute the value of y to (1)

x = 67 - 21 = 46

Answer: 21 and 46.

Answer:

The probability is \frac{16}{43}

Step-by-step explanation:

The psychology class has 9 freshman male, 15 freshman females, 8 sophomore male and 12 sophomore female.

Total population constitution of the class=

17 males and 27 females and 44 students in total.

If on selecting on the first attempt, a male has been picked up then the number of males for the picking up in the second attempt has to decrease by one.

Also, the total number of students from which it has to be selected also decreases by 1, because one child has already been selected.

Therefore for Second Attempt, Total 43 students and 16 males.

Probability=\frac{No.OfFavorableOutcomes}{TotalNo.OfOutcomes}

Probability=\frac{16}{43}
