First line: The atomic number is the whole number on the periodic table so atomic number 35 means the element is bromine. Thus the element symbol is Br. The atomic number is also the number of protons in the isotope so the number of protons is 35. The mass number is the sum of protons and neutrons in the isotope so the mass number is 35+46 or 81. The mass number gives you the top left number on the nuclear symbol (it will look the same as the one below it except the 79 is an 81). Lastly, the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons in a neutral atom so 35 electrons.

Determine the total pressure of a mixture of 0.400 mole of He and 0.600 mole of Ne in a 2.00 liter container at 25oC.
harina [27]

Answer:

Total pressure of the mixture is 12.2 atm

Explanation:

Let's apply the Ideal Gases law to solve this

Total pressure . V = Total moles . R . T

Total moles = 0.4 m of He and 0.6 mole of Ne → 1 mol

P . 2L = 1 mol . 0.082 L.atm/mol. K . 298K

P = ( 1 mol . 0.082 L.atm/mol. K . 298K) /2L

P = 12.2 atm

In Rutherford's gold foil experiment, most alpha particles passed through the gold foil without deflection and were detected on
Gwar [14]

Answer:

Option D.

Explanation:

Some of the alpha particles Rutherford shot at the gold foil bounced back, some scattered; but the majority of them went right through. That meant there had to be some sort of positively charged subatomic particle in there that pulled them through, but it had to be at the center and couldn't take up a lot of room.
