An air traffic controller is tracking two planes. To start, Plane A is at an altitude of 3427 feet and Plane B is at an altitude

of 5000 feet. Plane A is gaining altitude at 65.75 feet per second and Plane B is gaining altitude at 35.5 feet per second.
How many seconds will pass before the planes are at the same altitude?

What will their altitude be when they're at the same altitude.

3427 + 65.75s = 5000 + 35.5s
65.75s - 35.5s = 5000 - 3427
30.25s = 1573
s = 1573 / 30.25
s = 52 seconds <== they are the same at 52 seconds

3427 + 65.75(52) = 6846
5000 + 35.5(52) = 6846

and their altitude is 6846 <===

<span>lane A, 5000+40.5x
Plane B, 4467+50.75x
x is number of seconds of time.

When altitudes equal?
5000+40+1/2x=4467+50+.75x
5000-4467=10.25x

x=53.3 seconds.
Use either formula for altitude of a plane to find what the altitude would be.</span>

What is the rate of change in the y-values with respect to the x-values?
dybincka [34]

Answer:

The answer to your question is the last option

Step-by-step explanation:

Process

1.- To calculate the rate of change, calculate slope

Formula

             m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

x1 = 1           y1 = 1200

x2 = 2         y2 = 2400

2.- Substitution

             m = (2400 - 1200) / (2 - 1)

3.- Simplification

             m = 1200 / 1

4.- Result

             m = 1200 meters / minute

Resolve into partial fractions 7-5x/2x^2+x-1
Flauer [41]

The decomposition of partial fractions is to start with the simplified reply and then take it apart, to "decompose" the final expression into its initial polynomial fractions.

Given:

\to \bold{\frac{7-5x}{2x^2+x-1}}\\\\

To find:

partial fractions=?

Solution:

\to \bold{\frac{7-5x}{2x^2+x-1}}\\\\\to \bold{\frac{7-5x}{2x^2+x(2-1)-1}}\\\\\to \bold{\frac{7-5x}{2x^2+2x-x-1}}\\\\\to \bold{\frac{7-5x}{2x(x+1)-1(x+1)}}\\\\\to \bold{\frac{7-5x}{(2x-1)(x+1)} = \frac{A}{(2x-1)} - \frac{B}{(x+1)} }\\\\\to \bold{7-5x = \frac{A ((2x-1)(x+1))}{(2x-1)} - \frac{B((2x-1)(x+1))}{(x+1)} }\\\\\to \bold{7-5x = A(x+1) -B(2x-1) }\\\\

putting x=-1

\to \bold{7-5(-1) = A(-1+1) -B(2(-1)-1) }\\\\\to \bold{7+5 = A(0) -B(-2-1) }\\\\\to \bold{12 = +3B }\\\\\to \bold{B = \frac{12}{3} }\\\\\to \bold{B = 4 }\\\\

putting x= \frac{1}{2}

\to \bold{7-5(\frac{1}{2}) = A(\frac{1}{2}+1) -B(2(\frac{1}{2})-1) }\\\\\to \bold{7-\frac{5}{2} = A(\frac{3}{2}) -B((\frac{2}{2})-1) }\\\\\to \bold{7-\frac{5}{2} = A(\frac{3}{2}) -B(1-1) }\\\\\to \bold{\frac{14-5}{2} = A(\frac{3}{2}) -B(0) }\\\\\to \bold{\frac{9}{2} = A(\frac{3}{2})}\\\\\to \bold{\frac{9}{2}  \times \frac{2}{3} = A}\\\\\to \bold{\frac{9}{3} = A}\\\\\to \bold{A=3}\\\\

So, the final answer is "\bold{\frac{7-5x}{(2x-1)(x+1)} = \frac{3}{(2x-1)} - \frac{4}{(x+1)} }\\\\".
