Algebra:

x + y = 12

x = y + 2

y + y + 2 = 12

2y + 2 = 12

2y = 10

y = 5

x = 5 + 2 = 7

5 and 7 (D)

Logic:

Out of the numbers given, which two numbers add up to 12? only 5 & 7

To check, Is one of the numbers 2 more than the other? yes, 7 is 2 more than 5.

Hey there!!

Let's take the number as x and y

Given,

The sum of x and y = 12

One number is 2 more than the other

Let's take y = x + 2

Equations

x + y = 12

As we know y = x + 2 , plug the value in

x + x + 2 = 12

2x + 2 = 12

Subtract 2 on both sides

2x = 10

Divide by 5 on both sides

x = 5

y = 2 + x

y = 7

The numbers are 5 and 7

Hope my answer helps!

Answer:

Check boxes 3, 4, 6, and 8.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have the equation:

y=-3x+2

And we want to select all equations that are perpendicular to the above equation.

Remember that perpendicular lines have slopes who are negative reciprocals of each other.

Therefore, the slope of our equations must be the negative reciprocal of -3.

The negative reciprocal of -3 is 1/3. We flipped -3 to -1/3, and then multiplied by a negative.

Therefore, any equation with a slope of 1/3 is perpendicular to our original line.

Therefore, we will check boxes 3, 4, 6, and 8.

A cyclist travels 7 km from home to the park.
adell [148]

Answer:

28 km per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

First determine the amount of time that the trip took

17:55 - 17:40 = :15 or 15 minutes

We need the time in hours

15 minutes * 1 hour/ 60 minutes = 15/60 hours = 1/4 hours

To determine speed, take distance and divide by time

7 km ÷( 1/4 hours)

Copy dot flip

7 * 4/1

28 km per hour

What percent of 20 is 36
jok3333 [9.3K]
36 is more than 20 so the percentage is more than a hundred and less than 200% since 36 is less than 40. So if u subtract 20 from 36 and find that 16 is 80% of 20 and so when you add 100% to it, its 180%

one positive number is 28 less than another number. if the reciprocal of the smaller number is added to four times the reciproca
marishachu [46]
Let x represent the larger number.
  1/(x -28) +4/x = 1/6
Multiplying by the product of denominators, we have
  6x +24(x -28) = x(x -28)
In standard form, this is
  x^2 -58x +672 = 0
  (x -42)(x -16) = 0

The two numbers are (-12 and 16) or (14 and 42).
