The answer is false. As we grow older, our bodies break down. This is why we need to take physical check-ups to see how our bodies are doing. Bad health choices and lack of exercise can slow down our metabolism and even cause illness. We need to maintain a good diet, proper exercise and take medication to maintain our metabolism and health.

A person’s metabolism remains constant throughout life is a false statement.

Further Explanation:

Metabolism is term used for all type of chemical reaction take place in the person body to maintain the living state of cell and organism. Bioenergetics is the term used to state the metabolic and biochemical pathway by which the cells and organism obtain energy. The energy production is the vital role of metabolism. It is the enzyme mediated chemical reaction that occurs in the living organism.

Metabolism are classified into two parts according to the function they perform which are,

 • Catabolism: it helps in the breakdown of molecules to produce energy.
 • Anabolism: it helps in the production of the entire component needed by the cells.

Metabolism is closely linked to the nutrition and the availability of the nutrients. There are several types of metabolic activity occur inside the individual body such as carbohydrate metabolism, protein metabolism and fat metabolism. Fat metabolism produce twice the amount of energy produce by carbohydrate and protein whereas protein is the most vital component needed for several activity such as supplying nitrogen for DNA and RNA formation and energy production.
