Well, if something is in-between the absolute value signs it is automatically positive no matter what. Therefore #19 is actually saying: 16-12 which is 4.

I hope this helps!

Hi there!

We can solve this system graphically by rearranging both equations into the form y = mx + b:

2x - y < 3

-y < -2x + 3

Multiply all terms by -1 (switch to greater than sign)

y > 2x - 3

x + 2y ≥ 4

2y ≥ -x + 4

Divide all terms by 2:

y ≥ -x/2 + 2

Graph the two inequalities: *Shown Below*

Therefore, any point in the region where the two graphs intersect, or the purple area, is a solution to this set of inequalities.

Answer:

30 plants.

Step-by-step explanation:

Elizabeth has 1 and 7/10 as many plants as Rosalie, so she has more plants than her, since the fraction is greater than one. So that means you need to take the number of plants Elizabeth has and divide it by the fraction.

51 / (1 7/10) = 30

To do this, remember to make both sides into a mixed number fraction, flip the second fraction, and then multiply them together. So 1 and 7/10 becomes 17/10 and 51 becomes 51/1. Then flip 17/10 and multiply.

51/1 * (10/17) = 510/17

Then simplify.

510/17 = 30

Hope this helps.

sveta [45]

Answer:

2 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

For if you start at 1 hour you end up with one bus 45 miles away from the school and the other 40 miles. If you then add these then you find out how far apart they are which is 85 at this point and time. If you do another hour the bus going 45 is now 90 miles away from the school. The other one will be 80. After you add these two number to find how far apart they are you end up with 170.
