Through the lifetime, the body have different nutritional needs, that is, a child cannot ingest the same diet than an ancient person, because their needs are way too different.

Children need more energy, because they are so active and their daily routines requires a lot of glucose, to fulfil those needs, children's nutrition must be centered in fatty diets, to provide enough energy. On the other hand, a young adult doesn't need that much of energy, because his/her daily routine doesn't involves high intensity activities. During this age, the young adult is less active than children, they have a stable job and work-based schedule.

Therefore, the number of calories during this period of lifetime is different and higher than others, because all activities during that time are intense, and energy is more needed to complete those activities.
