Plz help!!!<br> Solve 6 (u - 4) - 8 = -6 (-4u + 6) -2u<br> Combine like-terms before solving
Elan Coil [88]
Combining like terms:
First do the first part which is 6(u-4)-8, you first distribute 6 to u and -4, 6u-24-8
-24-8=-32, 6u-32
Second part the same thing , distribute -6 to -4u and 6, (negative times a negative equals a positive) 24u-36-2u
24u-2u=22u

Solving:
6u-32=22u-36
Subtract 6u on both sides, -32=16u-36
Add 36 on both sides, 4=16u
Divide 16 on both sides
U=4/16 which is 0.25

For their homecoming parade, the students of U-Math have created a colorful banner, 57 meters in length, that is made of two
BartSMP [9]

Answer:

Length\ of\ the\ long\ piece=40\ meters\\\\Length\ of\ the\ short\ piece=17\ meters

Step-by-step explanation:

Let be "s" the length in meters of the short piece and "l" the lenght in meters of the long piece.

Set up a system of equations:

\left \{ {{s+l=57} \atop {s=l-23}} \right.

Apply the Substitution Method to solve the system. Substitute the second equation into the first equation and solve for "l":

(l-23)+l=57\\\\2l=80\\\\l=\frac{80}{2}\\\\l=40

Susbstitute the value of "l" into the second equation in order to find the value of "s". This is:

s=40-23\\\\s=17

How tall is the flag pole (please give explanation too)
Tpy6a [65]

Answer:

  22 3/4 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

The diagram seems to show a 6 1/2 ft person casting a 9 ft shadow at the same time a flagpole is casting a 31 1/2 ft shadow. You want the height of the flagpole.

<h3>Proportion</h3>

Shadow lengths are presumed proportional to the height of the object making them. This means ...

  h/(31 1/2) = (6 1/2)/9 . . . . . all lengths in feet

Multiplying by 31 1/2, we get ...

  h = (31 1/2)(6 1/2)/9 = (819/4)/9 = 91/4

  h = 22 3/4 . . . . ft

The flagpole is 22 3/4 feet tall.
