<span><span>The electrons which are shared are no always near oxygen. Oxygen keeps six electrons to itself. And the four shared electrons travel between oxygen and other atoms and contributing four half-charges to oxygen. This provides oxygen about eight units of negative charge and this causes balance the number of protons in the atom.</span><span> So this is the reason that by making two covalent bonds, an o atom (with 8 protons) fills its valence shell and atom's charge stay close to zero.</span></span>

18. The mass of a quantity of NiCl2 is 24.6 g. How many formula units are in the sample?
Charra [1.4K]

Answer is: A. 1.1 3 1023 NiCl2 formula units.

m(NiCl₂) = 24.6 g; mass of nickel(II) chloride.

M(NiCl₂) = 129.6 g/mol; molar mass of nickel(II) chloride.

n(NiCl₂) = m(NiCl₂) ÷ M(NiCl₂).

n(NiCl₂) = 24.6 g ÷ 129.6 g/mol.

n(NiCl₂) = 0.19 mol; amount of nickel(II) chloride.

Na = 6.022·10²³ 1/mol; Avogadro constant.

N(NiCl₂) = n(NiCl₂) · Na.

N(NiCl₂) = 0.19 mol · 6.022·10²³ 1/mol.

N(NiCl₂) = 1.13·10²³; number of formula units.

Here we go ~

Energy difference btween the two electronic states can be expressed as :

{ \qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: \Delta E = h\nu}

[ h = planks constant,{\: \nu }= frequency ]

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \:214.68 = 39.79 \times 10 {}^{ - 14}  \times  \nu

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: \nu =  \cfrac{214.68}{39.79 \times 10 {}^{ - 4} }

\qquad \sf  \dashrightarrow \: \nu =  \cfrac{214.68}{39.79 }  \times 10 {}^{14}

Why glucose and fructose produce same shaped products with phenylhydrazine?
NemiM [27]

During the reaction of glucose and fructose with excess phenylhydrazine to form osazone, only the C-1andC-2 atoms of glucose and fructose participate in the reaction. The rest of the molecule remains intact. Hence, glucose and fructose produce the same osazone.
