From the table, you know that Jupiter is further away from the sun. So if you subtract the distance of the shorter one, which is Mars, from the distance of the longer one, which is Jupiter, you woould get the distance of Jupiter from Mars.

4.84 x 10^8 - 1.42 x 10^8
= (4.84 - 1.42) x 10^8
= 3.42 x 10^8

Therefore the distance is 3.42 x 10^8

Hope this helped, if you don't understand what I was doing in the working, you can just imagine substituting a = 10^8, things will make more sense. As for what I was talking about in the huge paragraph above, if you're confused you can also draw it out.

The ratio of the areas of similar polygons is 64: 16. What is the ratio of their sides
Ilya [14]

Answer:

8:4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

The ratio of the areas of similar polygons is 64: 16, A₁:A₂=64: 16

We need to find the ratio of their sides. For similar polygons, the ratio of  the area is proportional to the square of the ratio of their corresponding sides.

Let sides are x₁ and x₂. So,

\dfrac{A_1}{A_2}=(\dfrac{x_1}{x_2})^2\\\\\dfrac{x_1}{x_2}=\sqrt{\dfrac{A_1}{A_2}} \\\\=\sqrt{\dfrac{64}{16}}\\\\=\dfrac{8}{4}

So, the required ratio is 8:4.

Solve x3 = 64 over 27.<br><br> ±8 over 3<br> 8 over 3<br> ±4 over 3
blondinia [14]
X³=64/27
Cube root the answer
³√x³=³√64/27
x=4/3.
Check:
x=4/3
x³=(4/3)³
x³=64/27. As a result, the correct answer is 4/3 or 4 over 3. If you wonder why don't I choose the answer as ±4 over 3 because of this
±4/3
Choose positive first
(4/3)²=64/27 Correct. However, then choose negative signs
(-4/3)³=-64/27 Incorrect. Hope it help!

RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

3.728 cm²

90

Step-by-step explanation:

To built the envelope I am using a rectangular piece of material 28 m long and 12 m wide.

Out of this material, I have to cut patches that are 1/12 the length and 2/15 the width of the whole material.

So, the length of the patches is 28 \times \frac{1}{12} = 2.33 m and the width of the patches is 12 \times \frac{2}{15} = 1.6 m.

Therefore, the area of the patches is (1.6 × 2.33) = 3.728 m² each. (Answer)

Now, the area of the rectangular piece of material is (28 × 12) = 336 m²

Hence, \frac{336}{3.728} = 90.37 ≈ 90 such patches can be made out of the whole material. (Answer)
