You are working out on a rowing machine. Each time you pull the rowing bar (which simulates the oars) toward you, it moves a dis

tance of 1.1 m in a time of 1.8 s. The readout on the display indicates that the average power you are producing is 90 W. What is the magnitude of the force that you exert on the handle?

Answer:

147.27N

Explanation:

Power = workdone/time

Power = Force*distance/time

Given

Power = 90Watts

Distance = 1.1m

Time = 1.8secs

Force = ?

Substitute the given parameters into the formula:

90 = \frac{1.1d}{1.8}\\cross \ multiply\\ 90 \times 1.8 = 1.1F\\162 = 1.1F\\1.1F = 162\\F = \frac{162}{1.1} \\F = 147.27N

Hence the magnitude of the force that you exert on the handle is 147.27N

v = speed of the source of sound or the train towards the listener or switchman = 40 m/s

V = actual speed of sound = 340 m/s

f = actual frequency of sound as emitted from source or the train = 1000 Hz

f' = frequency as observed by the listener or by switchman = ?

Using Doppler's law , frequency observed by a listener from a source moving towards it is given as

f' = V f /(V - v)

inserting the values

f' = 340 x 1000 /(340 - 40)

f' = 340 x 1000/300

The fact that there are seasons on the earth is largely due to
Andrews [41]
The main reason Earth have Seasons it's because of the Earth tilt. One side would be tilted to the sun which causes summer and the other side would be tilted away whitch causes Winter.

The S side of Earth for example is face to the sun which is summer

The N side of Earth of pointed away which is winter.

With the switch closed, how does the voltage across the 20-ω resistor compare to the voltage across the 10-ω resistor?
jasenka [17]
In electricity, the most famous and basic equation is the Ohm's Law which relates the parameters voltage, current and resistance. One form of this law as written in equation is V = IR, where V is the voltage in volts, I is the current in amperes and R is the resistance in ohms. These parameters depends in the arrangements, whether it's series or parallel.

In a series connection, the voltage is greater across a high-resistance resistor. Therefore, the voltage is much greater for the 20-ohm resistor. However,if it is a parallel circuit, the voltage is just the same for both resistors.

Which of the following methods has led to the earliest discoveries of massive planets orbiting near their parent stars a. detect
Mrac [35]

Answer:

c. detecting the gravitational effect of an orbiting planet (The Wobble"") by looking for the Doppler shifts in the star's spectrum

Explanation:

In a solar system the mass of the star and planets affect each other's orbital  movements. The center of gravity of a star and a planet is inside the star. This causes the star to be closer and farther from the Earth at different times. Due to this wobble the star appears to be red shifted when it is farther and blue shifted when it is closer.

When the mass of the planet is high, like a hot Jupiter it causes more wobble i.e., change in radial velocity. This makes it easier to detect the planet. The earliest hot Jupiter found by this method is the planet 51 Pegasi b.
