If a box is pushed across a floor with a force of 130N. The frictional force acting between the box and the floor is 30N, over a

time period of 5 sec,
Determine :
1) What is the net force acting on it?
2) Acceleration acting upon the box if it starts from rest and attains a certain Kinetic energy after being pushed 25m?
3) Also find the mass of the box.
4) What will be the kinetic energy and final velocity?

The force acting in the front direction is the 130N.
The frictional force is acting backwards          30N.

1) The net force is 130N - 30N    =  100N

2)  s  = ut + (1/2)at^2             u = 0,  Start from rest,  s = 25m t =5.

25 = 0*5  +  (1/2)* a * 5^2.

25 = 0  +  25/2  * a.

25  =    (25/2)a.      Divide 25 from both sides.

1 =  (1/2)* a.          Cross multiply.

2 = a.

a = 2 m/s^2.

3) Mass of the box
Net Force,  F = ma
                   100 =  m*2.        Divide both sides by 2.

                     100/2  =  m
                       50       =  m.
                        m  = 50 kg.

4)  Final velocity ,   v = u + at.
                                   v  =  0  + 2*5 = 10 m/s.

   Kinetic Energy,  K  =  (1/2) * mv^2.
                                    =    1/2  * 50 * 10 * 10.
                                    =      2500 J.

Several days after snowfall , the roofs of some homes on your street have almost no snow on them, while the roofs on other homes
Alina [70]

Explanation:

This due to thermal insulation of some of the roof.

An insulator is body is a poor conductor of heat and will require high thermal energy to cause temperature changes.

  • A house with a roof that is thermally insulated will have poor heat conduction.
  • Since little heat is conducted, there wont be enough thermal energy to melt the snow.
  • Thermal energy is directly related to heat.
  • A house that is not insulated will absorb a lot of heat.
  • This will cause the snow to melt very fast.

Who would be harder to stop: a professional hockey player skating 4 m/s or a fifth grader sharing at 4 m/s and why
Tomtit [17]
A professional hockey player, because they would typically have more mass than a fifth grader.

Two girls,(masses m1 and m2) are on roller skates and stand at rest, close to each other and face-to-face. Girl 1 pushes squarel
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

\vec{v}_1 = -\frac{\vec{v}_2m_2}{m_1}

Explanation:

The center of mass of the system (two girls) is constant, as the velocity of the center of mass of the system is also constant.

\vec{v}_{cm} = \frac{m_1\vec{v}_1 + m_2\vec{v}_2}{m_1 + m_2}

<u>The initial velocity of the system is zero, since both girls are at rest.</u> So the velocity of the total system at any point should be zero as well.

0 = \frac{m_1\vec{v}_1 + m_2\vec{v}_2}{m_1 + m_2}\\\vec{v}_1 = -\frac{\vec{v}_2m_2}{m_1}

This is true, because there is no friction between the girls and the ground. Otherwise, the velocity of the center of mass wouldn't be constant.

A proton, mass 1.67 × 10−27 kg and charge +1.6 × 10−19 c, moves in a circular orbit perpendicular to a uniform magnetic field of
stellarik [79]

Time taken by proton to complete one complete circular orbit= 7.28 x 10⁻⁸ s

Explanation:

For proton, the centripetal force required for circular motion is provided by the magnetic force,

so Fm= Fc

q v B = m v²/r

m= mass of charged particle

v= velocity

B =magnetic field

q= charge

r= radius of circular path

v= q B r/m

now v= r ω

ω= angular velocity

ω r = q B r /m

ω=q B /m

now ω= 2π/T where T =time period

so 2π/T=q B/m

T= 2 πm/q B

T= 2π (1.67 x 10⁻²⁷)/ [( 1.6 x 10⁻¹⁹)* (0.9)]

T= 7.28 x 10⁻⁸ s
