Sin(x)^2 = cos(x/2)^2

Mathematics

First of all, you can use

\sin^2(x)+\cos^2(x)=1 \iff \sin^2(x)=1-\cos^2(x)

and the equation becomes

1-\cos^2(x)=\cos^2\left(\dfrac{x}{2}\right)

Now, from the known identity

\cos^2(x)=\dfrac{1+\cos(2x)}{2}

we can half all the angles and we get

\cos^2\left(\dfrac{x}{2}\right)=\dfrac{1+\cos(x)}{2}

So, the equation has become

1-\cos^2(x)=\dfrac{1+\cos(x)}{2} \iff 2-2\cos^2(x)=1+\cos(x)

So, everything comes down to solve

2\cos^2(x)+\cos(x)-1=0

The associated equation

2t^2+t-1=0

has roots

t=-1,\quad t=\dfrac{1}{2}

So, we want one of the following

\cos(x)=-1,\quad \cos(x)=\dfrac{1}{2}

Solve for the associated angles and you're done

ASAP!!! Which of these graphs could represent an exponential <br> relation (Explain)
Margarita [4]

Answer:

B. looks like the best answer that fits this question.

If i'm wrong then my fault.

Step-by-step explanation:

When looking at choice (B) you can see it started at a decreasing point but slowly growing. Exponential relations are images or equations that describe growth and they always have the same function. If you look at the other choices you see that they either increase but then decrease or they don't match the formula for (exponential relations).

That's as good as I can do I dont knw if this what ur teacher is looking for but I tried :/

I don’t understand how to find the height
ANTONII [103]

Answer:

<u>height</u><u>,</u><u> </u><u>x</u><u> </u><u>is</u><u> </u><u>2</u><u>3</u><u>5</u><u> </u><u>ft</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

From trigonometric ratios:

\cos( \theta)  =  \frac{adjacent}{hypotenuse}

but:

\theta = 90 \degree - 36 \degree \\  \theta = 54 \degree

adjacent is x

hypotenuse is 400 ft

\ \cos ( 54 \degree)  =  \frac{x}{400}  \\  \\ x = 400 \ \cos (54 \degree)  \\ x = 235 \: \:  feet
