The heavier an atomic nucleus gets, the less energy the star is able to extract from it through nuclear fusion. When it gets to
Slav-nsk [51]

Answer:

Iron

Explanation:

Once a star starts fusing iron in its core it gives off very large amounts of energy. Also helium, hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, and silicon still exist in the star in different shells while fusin is taking place at different parts of the star. Right at the surface, hydrogen continues to fuse to helium, as e go further down helium is fusing to carbon and oxygen; right inside the core we have silicon that is fusing with iron. At this point, Iron being of stable atomic structure and quite heavier will no longer be fused into anything because of the quite large amounts of energy and force required to fuse iron atoms. The process comes to a standstill at this point.

A lake is fed by a polluted stream and a sewage outfall. The stream and sewage wastes have a decay rate coefficient (k) of 0.5/d
joja [24]

Solution :

Given :

k = 0.5 per day

$C_s = 10 \ mg/L \ ; \ \ Q_s= 40 \ m^3/s$

$C_{sw} = 100 \ ppm \ ; \ \ Q_{sw}= 0.5 \ m^3/s$

Volume, V $= 200 \ m^3$

Now, input rate = output rate + KCV ------------- (1)

Input rate  $= Q_s C_s + Q_{sw}C_{sw}$

                $=(40 \times 10) + (0.5\times 100)$

                $= 2 \times 10^5 \ mg/s$

The output rate $= Q_m C_{m}$

                          = ( 40 + 0.5 ) x C x 1000

                          $=40.5 \times 10^3 \ C \ mg/s$

Decay rate = KCV

∴$KCV =\frac{0.5/d \times C \  \times 200 \times 1000}{24 \times 3600}$

            = 1.16 C mg/s

Substituting all values in (1)

$2 \times 10^5 = 40.5 \times 10^3 \ C+ 1.16 C$

C = 4.93 mg/L

Entropy change is evaluated using Eq. 6.2a based on an internally reversible process. Can the entropy change between two states
Vadim26 [7]

Answer:

YES

Explanation:

Entropy is an extensive property of the system entropy change that value of entropy change can be determined for any process between the states whether reversible or not. i have attached the formula to calculate entropy change which is independent of whether the system is reversible or not and can be determined for any process.

What is the difference between available and unavailable energy?
Anon25 [30]

Answer:

The heat absorbed portion that is transformed into work is therefore helpful and accessible for our use, hence it is termed as available energy. But the energy or heat which is of no use is termed as unavailable energy.

Explanation:

A engine requires heat from the reservoir and transforms portion of it into function. The extra heat is expelled (generally atmosphere) to  cold reservoir. The refused heat can't be equal to zero, as per the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The heat absorbed portion that is transformed into work is therefore helpful and accessible for our use, hence it is termed as available energy. But the energy or heat which is of no use is termed as unavailable energy.
